For those who love nature hikes and Michigan.

Tom Funke is a local author and naturalist.  This book is for all ages.  It identifies 50 trails in the Upper Peninsula that you can hike.    Each trail is described in detail, identifying the difficulty level, suggested hiking equipment and the identifying characteristics that you can expect to see.  Tom is an entertaining  speaker - if you ever get a chance to go to one of his book talks I highly reccommend it.

This book has been  a favorite of mine since 8th grade

All Creatures Great and Small is the first book of a series about a Veterinarian surgeon in the hills of England.  If you love animals,  if you want to be a veterinarian, or if you just want to laugh, I recommend you try this book.  If you enjoy this book, there are three other books in the series:  All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Things Wise and Wonderful and The Lord God Made Them All.

Give this book a try

Prior to this book I would have said science fiction was not my prefered genre.  The Giver was a required book in my college course on adolescent literature.  It hooked me and now I find there are many science fiction books that I like!  I could not wait to read the sequels: The Messenger and Gathering Blue.
